Critical Hits and Misses: Accessories To Add On

Ready to look good for the Spring season? We’re here for you once again with some helpful tips and suggestions on making your style and geek cred become top tier. This Critical Hits and Misses is going to be centered around accessories that are very cool and stylish. It’s one thing to have a solid top and bottom for your outfit, then you need to add the accents to everything afterwards. Whether it’s a hat, a belt, or even a watch; these accessories are what you can pick up to further boost the way you look.

You know the drill. Our rankings are simple and straightforward. A 5-point scale that tells your yay or nay on a variety of items. That means we can rank something as EPIC WIN, Cool, Okay, Meh, and FAIL. Everybody’s style is different and speaks to them, but you’re not going about it alone. We’re here for you when you need to look your absolute best.

Atari Speakerhat - COOL

This might be for the eccentric people, and we’re focusing on one item here, but if you want to bring the party with you everywhere you go this is one way to do it. The Atari Speakerhat is sold by Atari Life and has a Bluetooth enabled speaker built within a snapback hat. The speakers themselves are on the bill of the hat and can be linked up to any device that has Bluetooth capabilities, meaning your phone or music player will work with it. The speakers can get very loud when the volume is on full blast, so you don’t want to use this when the area around you is very quiet. But for the high energy parties you might go to, this can help liven up any place. Just be mindful of those around you, you don’t want to blast music around people who aren’t looking to party at the moment.

As far as looks there’s only so much to work with at the current moment. Atari Life sells the Atari Speakerhat with a few basic designs, as well as a special retro version inspired by the movie Bladerunner 2049. There’s also a PONG version that is really different, but not as stylish as the others. The general versions sport either the Atari logo or the Atari type on the front of the hat in blue or black, with the speakers below the bill. It’s simple and functional with the speakers being the highlight of the hat. If you got some matching shirts or pants, or even sneakers, this could be an out-of-the-box addition to your outfit.

EMP Online - COOL

Focusing back on outlets, let’s talk about EMP Online. Just because there isn’t a lot of color in your outfit, or if you’re all about gothic and heavy death metal looks, that doesn’t mean you still can’t have a good sense of style. EMP has a ton of clothing items and accessories to fit the goth or metal head style you might be sporting. Outside of gaming related items, they also have a variety of pop-culture and music branded items that fit almost all fandoms. Love the Avengers films and have a passion for Metallica? EMP has a bunch of stuff that is going to interest you.

But since we’re focusing on accessories, does EMPO have enough good stuff for that? Luckily, there’s a lot to choose from within the accessory options. Remember you’re going to find a lot of black in here, so if you’re looking for something with color then you’re going to want to look elsewhere. But if that doesn’t stop you, accessories such as belts, buckles, rings, pendants, bracelets, and more await you. There’s even a large selection of hair dye for both men and women who want to spice up the look of their hair and really go all out with their presentation. What’s really interesting however is the options for accessories like umbrellas, glasses, and variant contact lens of all kinds.

Grindstore – COOL

Like a few other outlets we’ve looked at for this series, Grindstore has a large selection of items for both men and women. They have shirts, pants, dresses, underwear, and other items related to gaming and pop-culture. Though their selection is not as vast as the other places we’ve looked at, they still have a wide inventory of clothing that fits gamers and geeks of all kinds. Many of the items touch on the fandoms of anime, gaming, movies, and a bit of pop-culture. However, they also have a few extra items like board games and kitchenware that might interest a few people here and there.

But let’s stick to accessories here. Grindstore has some good hats, wallets, and keychains that are built with different styles related to various fandoms. However, some things may come off as a bit basic to people with their simple looks, even though a few items have some cool images and clever designs to them. The selection of badges and buttons might be an eye catcher to those who want to liven up their personal bags or jackets with a little flair from their favorite video games. But for the adventurous person, you can also pick from a few pieces of body jewelry to add onto yourself, especially if you’re a Pokemon fan. Unfortunately, the selection is limited just to that, which is a shame since plenty of people would wear different body piercing from a number of franchises. Despite those few gripes, you could still find something good within their varied selection of accessories.
